Strawberry Danish Dessert

Make this fabulous Strawberry Danish Dessert and share it with your family and friends (or don’t share it and enjoy it all yourself.)

STEP #1 Gather the Ingredients for Strawberry Danish Dessert

Ingredients for Danish Dessert are strawberries, danish dessert, butter, flour, brown sugar, nuts, cool whip

Strawberry Danish Dessert

  • 1 cube butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 2 packages dream whip or 1 container cool whip
  • 2 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 package danish dessert
  • 4 cups sliced strawberries
  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • I made a mistake and didn’t realize it at the time. I thought the recipe said to use 1 cup butter instead of 1 cube of butter. So be careful when reading a recipe because sometimes it will say cubes and sometimes it is cups. One cup is actually 2 cubes of butter. It turned out just fine with twice the amount of butter though.
  • I used pecans but you can use whatever kind of nuts you would like. It would also be okay to leave the nuts out or to use a graham cracker crust instead.
  • I used a 16-ounce container of cool whip.

STEP #2 Make the Danish Dessert with Strawberries

Mix Danish Dessert in a saucepan and add strawberries.
  • Wash the strawberries and cut the tops off.
  • Slice them and put them in a bowl.
  • In a saucepan put 1 3/4 cup water.
  • Stir in the Danish Dessert.
  • Bring to a boil and boil 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Pour the Danish dessert mixture into the bowl with the strawberries and mix it together.
  • Put it into the refrigerator to cool.

STEP #3 Make the Crust

Chop nuts with a chopper on a cutting board

Chop the Nuts

  • I used pecans from my freezer that were picked fresh last year.
  • Use a chopper or food processor to chop the nuts. ( In the past I have put the nuts in a Ziplock baggie and rolled a rolling pin over it, or hit it with a mallet).
Crust ingredients in cake pan and put in oven
  • Put the flour, butter, brown sugar, and pecans into a cake pan.
  • Put it in a 350-degree oven for 10 minutes.
  • I actually put it in for 5 minutes and then stirred it. Then for 5 more minutes and mixed it some more. I didn’t think it was completely done and so I baked it for 4 more minutes.
  • I thought it might be easier to melt the butter in the microwave and then mix everything together before putting it in the cake pan and putting it in the oven.
  • When it is done, it will be crumbly.
  • Let it cool.
  • Take half of it out to use for a separate layer.
  • Spread the crust across the bottom of the cake pan.

Bowl and electric mixer is used to mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and cool whip
  • Put the softened cream cheese into a bowl.
  • Add the powdered sugar.
  • Mix it until creamy.
  • Add the Cool Whip. (I wasn’t sure how much cool whip to use because the recipe didn’t specify and the last time I made this, I used Dream Whip. I had a container that was 16 ounces and so I used the whole thing.)
  • Mix it together.
  • I used an electric mixer to mix it but I think it would have been easier to use my Bosch.

Layers of crust, and cream cheese mixture, and topped with strawberry danish dessert

  • Take the cake pan with a layer of crust on the bottom.
  • Spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the crust.
  • It is easier to put several globs of the mixture across the crust and use a butter knife to spread it. It is okay if some of the crust mixes into the cream cheese layer.
  • Then sprinkle the remaining crust across the layer.
  • Then add the rest of the cream cheese mixture and spread it across the crust layer.
  • Put the Strawberry Danish Dessert mixture across the top.

  • Put the dessert into the refrigerator and let it chill until you are ready to serve it.
  • Then Enjoy it with your family or with a group of friends.
